Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Messiah women's swim team split in their double dual against King's College and Arcadia University earlier this afternoon. They were defeated by Arcadia by a score of 142-119 but then beat King's 193-65.
In the first event fo the day, the 200 Medley Relay, the team of
Joelle Williamson,
Megan Freeman,
Cassie Cotton, and
Tara Freeman finished second with a time of 1:52.38. In third place was the team of
Molly Martine,
Sarah Woods, Abigail Gordiany, and
Mikaela Schell who had a finish time of 2:00.84.
Kaitlin Wingert had a strong performance in the 200 Free coming in first place with a time of 1:59.05. Teammate
Brittany Pond finished in fourth place with a 2:06.26 time. In the 100 Backstroke,
Joelle Williamson took the top spot with a 1:01.61 finish time.
Sarah Woods (1:14.35) and
Megan Freeman (1:14.65) finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 100 Breaststroke. Messiah took the top two spots in the 200 Butterfly with
Cassie Cotton finishing first (2:19.08) and
Leah Williamson coming in second (2:19.35).
Kaitlin Wingert had another great performance in the 50 Free coming in first with a 24.90 time. In the 100 Free,
Tara Freeman finished in first place with a time of 55.16 and
Brittany Pond came in fourth swimming a 57.73.
Cassie Cotton took first in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:00.54 and Wingert took home her third first place finish of the day in the 200 IM.Â
In the final event of the day, the 200 Free Relay, the team of
Cassie Cotton,
Joelle Williamson,
Tara Freeman, and
Kaitlin Wingert took home the top spot swimming a 1:40.52. Overall, Messiah finished first in seven out of 14 events. The split drops the Falcons to 7-3 on the season and they are back in action tomorrow hosting Stevenson University at Northern High School in Dillsburg, Pa. Meet time is set for 1:00 p.m.
