Grantham, PA - The Messiah women's swim team edged the Mustangs of Stevenson in a conference match-up earlier this afternoon by a score of 124-109.
Cassie Cotton finished first in the 50 Free with a time of 25.80, with teammate
Brittany Pond not far behind in second with a 26.23 time.
Kaitlin Wingert swam well in the 500 Free taking first place with a 5:30.30 finish time and
Britta Heath took second finishing with a time of 5.39.14.
In the 200 Free,
Joelle Williamson swam over three seconds faster than her closest competitor taking first with a finish time of 2:09.99. In the 100 Butterfly,
Tara Freeman (1:01.41) and
Molly Martin (1:09.01) placed second and third respectively. The Falcons took the top three spots in the 100 Free with Pond coming in first (57.49),
Leah Williamson in second (58.23), and
Emily Reale in third (58.88). Messiah finished strong in the final event of the day taking first and second in the 200 Free Relay. Cotton, Williamson,
Tara Freeman, and Wingert placed first with a time of 1:42.25, while
Mikaela Schell,
Joelle Williamson, Pond, and Reale placed second with a finish time of 1:45.52.Â
The Falcons improve to 8-3 on the season with the win and are back in the water next Saturday Jan. 21 taking on the Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley. Meet time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Annville, Pa.
