Falcons Hold off Dutchmen in Swimming Battle

Annville, PA - The Messiah men's swim team defeated conference opponent Lebanon Valley in a swimming battle yesterday by a score of 149-144. In the first event, the 200 Medley Relay, Nolan McArdle, Jason Maccannon, Andrew Leeper, and Drew Wolfe finished in first place with a time of 1:53.37. Kurtis Platteel, Daniel Jessen, Phil Rodo, and Anthony Pompei came in second place with a time of 1:56.31.
 
Jessen picked up another first place finish in the 100 Free swimming a time of 56.39, while Platteel came in first in the 400 Free with a finish time of 4:36.07. Nick Wieder (2:07.03) and Hunter Link (2:09.45) finished in first and second place respectively in the 200 Free. Drew Wolfe swam well in the 100 Backstroke with a finish time of 1:02.56, while teammate Nick Wieder finished in second place swimming a 1:07.55.
 
Andrew Leeper came in first in the 50 Free with a finish time of 25.52 and Nolan McArdle picked up another first place finish in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.05. In the 200 Free Relay, Rodo, Pompei, Jeremy Wakeley, and McArdle finished in first with a time of 1:44.40 to round out the days competition. The Falcons are now 5-7 on the season and are back in action this Saturday Jan. 28 when they host a double-dual with Albright College and Misericordia University at Northern High School. Meet time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Dillsburg, Pa.
