YORK, Pa. - Messiah women's swimming began their season today at a tri-match at York College. Also competing against the Spartans and Falcons were the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats.
The women's 'A team' (comprised of
Joelle Williamson,
Nicea McCabe,
Cassie Cotton, and Katie Wingert) placed 1st in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, finishing with a final time of 1:51.94.
In the 200 Yard Freestyle Katie Wingert placed 1st overall, with a final time of 1:59.10; almost a full two seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
The team results are as follows:
York College: 147-113
Franklin & Marshall: 133-127
Other notable finishes for the women can be found below:
- Joelle Williamson placed second overall in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing with a final time of 1:01.19.
- In the 100 Yard Butterfly Cassie Cotton placed first overall with a final time of 59.47. Cotton also placed first overall in the 100 Yard Freestyle, with a time of 54:57.
- In the 50 Yard Freestyle Katie Wingert finished first overall with a final time of 25:04.
- In the 50 Yard Breaststroke Nicea McCabe placed first overall, finishing with a final time of 32:37, .5 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
The Falcons are back in action at a double-dual away match at Widener University, and they will also be competing against the Hood College Blazers.
