GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Messiah women's swim team was swept this afternoon in their double-dual at Gettysburg. The Falcons fell to Susquehanna 142-119 and then to the host Bullets 148-113. These two opponents have been tough over the years but Messiah did swim well overall and just need a couple more high place finishes to pull out the wins.
In the first event of the day, the 200 Medley Relay, the team of
Kaitlin Wingert,
Joelle Williamson,
Cassie Cotton, and
Nicea McCabe came in first place with a time of 1:51.22.
Maelyn Elder swam well in the 200 Fly and finished in the top spot with a time of 2.13.28 while Abigail Gordiany came in fourth with a 2.22.65 time.
Cassie Cotton placed first in the 50 free with a finish time of 24.57 and then
Kaitlin Wingert finished first in the 100 Free with a time of 53.06.
Other notable performances from the meet are listed below:
- Joelle Williamson placed second in the 100 Back (1:01.73) and then third in the 200 Back with a time of 2.16.74.
- Cassie Cotton finished in first in the 100 Fly with a time of 58.95 and then Maelyn Elder placed second in the 200 IM.
- In the 200 Free Relay the team of Cotton, Williamson, Brittany Pond, and Wingert finished in second place with a time of 1.41.15.
The Falcons are back in action next weekend when they have their first meet at home in over a year in the newly renovated Fredericksen Natatorium. They are hosting Lycoming College at 1:00 p.m.
