GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah men's swim team defeated Lycoming College in their home-opening meet 137-109. The win moves the Falcons to 3-4 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.
In the mixed 200 Medley Relay,
Kurtis Platteel,
Nolan McArdle, Cassie Cotton, and Brittany Pond placed first with a time of 1:46.78. In the mixed 200 Freestyle Relay Molly Martin, Mcardle, Shannon Hogan, and
Daniel Logan finished in first with a time of 1:39.76.
Drew Wolfe provided a huge highlight with a school record time in the 100 freestyle. Wolfe won the event with a time of 47.49, beating his own record of 47.84 set at last year's MAC Championships.
Other notable performances from the meet are listed below:
- Jeremy Wakeley placed second in the 500 Free with a time of 5:17.49. Kurtis Platteel came in second place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.96.
- In the 50 Free two Messiah swimmers, Drew Wolfe (21.91) and Andrew Leeper (22.49) finished first and second respectively.
- Daniel Logan placed second in the 100 Fly with a time of 54.95 and Anthony Pompei wasn't far behind in third with a time of 56.91.
- In the 100 Breaststroke Jeffrey Gao placed first with a finish time of 102.26 and Ridge Hagar in second with a time of 1:04.10.
- Nolan McArdle swam the 100 IM and finished first with a time of 55.46.
The Falcons are back in action next weekend on Tuesday Nov. 28 when they host Dickinson College beginning at 7:00 p.m.
