Schott Breaks Record, Falcons Show Well at Diplomat Open

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Falcons' track and field teams traveled to Franklin & Marshall to compete in the Diplomat Open today and put forth a good showing at the meet.
 
Messiah had many athletes set personal records in multiple events but the big news of the day is that Benjamin Schott broke the program record in the men's 5000 meter run. Schott who placed first in this event finished with a time of 14:55.75. He crushed the previous record of 15:01.31 set by Jared Schatz '16 in 2015.
 
Aaron Gray won the 60 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 8.77 seconds. In the one mile run Derrick Peterson placed third with a time of 4:38.23.
 
On the women's side Elizabeth Cole finished third in the high jump with 5'1" and in the 800 meter run Kayla Miller came in second place with a time of 2:30.47.

Brett Gabrick placed third in the men's pole vault (4.10m).
Megan Renes placed seventh (9.06m) and Megan Heiges finished eighth in the women's pole vault.
In the men's long jump, Benjamin Danso placed fourth with a jump of 6.42m.
Kyler Shea ran the 5000 meter race in a time of 15:19.78 to finished in fifth.
Kiera Wells ran a strong 60 meter dash to place seventh with a time of 8.17.
In the men's weight throw Erik Dyril hit a personal best mark of 12.61 to finish eighth.
 
The Falcons will have a long break before competing at Susquehanna University on Saturday, Jan. 19.
