BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Messiah track and field traveled to Lehigh University this weekend to take part in the Lehigh Fast Times Before Finals Invitational. Five Falcons—all multi athletes—made the trek and competed.

Rachael Romain took 10th in the pentathlon with 2,670 points, and Aaron Gray took 14th in the heptathlon with 4,141 points, respectively. Each Falcon was the fourth Division III competitor to place in their multi group.

Romain's showing was backed by personal record marks in the 60 meter hurdles and long jump. Her 10.21 second time in the hurdles was 0.79 faster than her previous mark, and her long jump measure of 16'3" was more than 15" father than her previous best. Her best finish among her competition came in the 800 meter run when she finished seventh with a time of 2:41.68.

On the men's side Gray collected 4,141 points—just 59 points away from his personal record. His personal best time of 7.52 seconds in the 60 meter dash highlighted his weekend, as did his eight-second personal record in the 1000 meter run (3:03.11) and his fourth-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles (8.93). Gray also took a top-10 finish in the pole vault (eighth) with a mark of 12'7.25".

Christian Pavlovich, Caleb Puleo, and Taylor Wiederrecht also made the trip, although Pavlovich and Wiederrecht did not compete in every event due to their early-season training schedules. Puleo was strong in his Heptathlon debut with 3,514 points. He took fifth overall in the 1000 meter run (2:57.95) and also tied Gray in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.52 seconds.

The Falcons will now be off for more than a month, and will return to action on Jan. 19 at Susquehanna University.
