Selinsgrove, PA - Messiah first-year runner Leanne Weaver took two seconds off the Falcons' Indoor 800 meter run record to highlight a strong weekend for Messiah track & field at the SU Open on Saturday. Weaver clocked in a time of 2:17.81 to break Grace Kaste's mark of 2:19.95 set back in 2009.

The record for Weaver comes one week after she helped the Falcons set a new Indoor 4x800 record at Dickinson; Weaver and her relay teammates broke that mark by more than nine seconds, with the new time being 9:39.18.

"It was great to see such a terrific run from Leanne," head coach Dale Fogelsanger said. "She was strong in that race, and overall I thought our team was strong throughout. We picked up a lot of personal records, and even a bunch of 'Top 10' marks for our Indoor program.

"I think we're in a good position for this point in the season."

Messiah is just one week away from the MAC Championships, which start on Friday, Feb. 24.

Men's performances

• Tim Moses won the pole vault with a mark of 16'2.75" and two teammates—Dane Cornelius (14'3.25") and Aaron Gray (13'9.25")—were behind him in second and third place, respectively
• Donnell McNair (6th) and Brett Koch (7th) each cleared 6'1.25" in the high jump
• Aaron Gray (9.18) and Brett Koch (9.32) took third and fifth in the 60 meter hurdles, respectively
• Braden Miller took eighth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.99
• Nathaniel Pardoe took fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.56
• Joshua Pardoe took fourth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:13.18

Women's performances

• Megan Renes took second in the pole vault with a mark of 9'6.25"
• Lizzy Cole (5'2.25") and Marie Johnson (5'0.25") took fifth and sixth in the high jump, respectively
• Marie Johnson also took third in the triple jump with a mark of 34'7.5" and sixth in the high jump with a mark of 5'0.25"
• Maddison Landis (5:23.25), Holly Eliason (5:29.74), and Daneille Cardone (5:31.53) took fourth, sixth, and eighth in the mile run, respectively
• Leanne Weaver took second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.81, and teammate Kayla Miller took fourth with a time of 2:23.08
• Christy White took ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.83
• Alyssa McMinn (37'11.25") and Rebecca Querfeld (37'6.75") took sixth and seventh in the shot put, respectively
• Alissa Rogers took fourth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:45.74
• The Falcons' 4x200 group of Christy White, Taylor Wiederrecht, Kelsie Kennedy, and Kristen Frawley took third with a time of 1:50.42
• The Falcons' 4x400 group of Kayla Miller, Taylor Wiederrecht, Maddison Landis, and Leanne Weaver took third with a time of 4:12.80
