Bethlehem, PA - Messiah men's track & field scored 110 points in a competitive top-half of the conference to finish in third place at the MAC Indoor Championships. Three Falcons collected three gold medals to support the effort: Brett Koch (60m Hurdles), Tim Moses (Pole Vault), and Dane Cornelius (Heptathlon).

Widener won the conference title with 163 points, with Lebanon Valley (115), Messiah, and Stevenson (104) all totaling more than 100 points.

Messiah took home 10 total medals, tied for the second-most with Lebanon Valley to Widener's 16 medals. The Falcons' depth across the entire two-day weekend was on display and helped them finish near the top.

"I thought our men were terrific this weekend," head coach Dale Fogelsanger said. "They were excited about what was ahead of them, and they were confident in their performances. I don't want to say everything went our way, but they managed to find way to get things done.

"There was so much poise out there, which was great to see."

Tim Moses certainly provided a highlight with his fourth-straight Indoor Pole Vault Championship as he's undoubtedly on his way to qualifying for this seventh NCAA Championships in as many seasons (Indoor and Outdoor). Dane Cornelius also secured his legacy in the MAC with his second-straight win of the Heptathlon, this time with a personal record 4253 points.

But the highlight of the weekend may very well have been the 60m Hurdles where Brett Koch won his first-ever event with a 8.83 second win. Aaron Gray took second at 8.85 seconds, with his thousandth time edging out Chance Atkins of Lebanon Valley (8.85) in the final standing. Donnell McNair took sixth to score three more points in a perfect example of Messiah's deep lineup.

In addition to the gold finishes, silver medals were earned in the Mile Run (Alex Scheib), Pole Vault (Dane Cornelius), and the 4x800 Relay.

Friday Update - 7:10 p.m.
After Day One at the MAC Championships the Falcons are tied for seventh overall with 12 team points. All teams but the leader, Widener, is within 16 points. The Pride are in first with 62 points.

Messiah earned their first All-MAC honor in the Distance Medley Relay behind a third-place performance from Brandin Dyche, Brandon Straley, Matthew Royer, and Tyler McFeaters. The foursome clocked in at 10:38.36 which was also a season-best time for the team.

The Falcons strong start continued in the 5000m Run where Benjamin Schott took fifth place with a time of 15:40.80. The run was good for a Second Team honor. Messiah also picked up an Honorable Mention honor in the 4x200 when Pat Zahn, Christian Pavlovich, Zach Shafer, and Olufemi Obadina ran a season best 1:37.99.

A big story for the Falcons on Friday was undoubtedly their performance in the Heptathlon. Aaron Gray is in second place with 2374 points thanks to a first place finish in the Long Jump (19'9") and third place finish in the Shot Put (36'4"). Teammate Donnell McNair is tied for third place (2337 points) and he was especially impressive with two first place finishes, first in the 60m Dash (7.45) and then also in the High Jump (6'4").

Dane Cornelius, last year's MAC Heptathlon Champion, is in sixth place with 2124 points.
