York, PA – The Messiah College men's and women's track and field programs competed in the York College Twilight Meet on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Although there was no team scoring at this meet, the Falcons had some great performances from select individuals.
Benjamin Schott won the 1500m for the men with a time of 4:02.40, this was a personal best for Schott.
Tim Moses placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 16'03"25 and
Dane Cornelius (13'11"75) finished in second place for the Falcons.
Leanne Weaver brought home first place in the 800m with a time of 2:19.92. Weaver is now tied with Amy Henry ('94) for seventh on Messiah's top-10 list for the 800m.
Kayla Miller also placed first in the 1500m with a time of 4:58.94. Freshman
Megan Heiges won the women's pole vault with a mark of 9'09"25, which was her best performance of this outdoor season.
Marie Johnson finished first in the triple jump (36'02") for the Falcons.
Alyssa McMinn had an outstanding performance winning both the shot put (37'11"25) and the discus (106'09").
Leah Springer placed first in her top event, the javelin with a throw of 109'04".
Men's Notable Performances Included:
- Donnell McNair received second place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 57.12.
- Max Whitehead completed the 800m with a time of 2:02.35, good enough for third place.
- Brett Kock finished in third place for the 110 meter hurdles (16.70).
- Messiah's "A" team and Messiah "C" team finished first and second respectively in the 4x400 meter relay. Messiah's "A" team won by 10 seconds with a time of 3:30.73.
Women's Notable Performances Included:
- Messiah's 4x400 meter relay team placed first with a time of 4:11.89.
- The Falcons 4x100 meter relay placed second behind Lebanon Valley with a time of 51.58.
- Marie Johnson (5'01") and Elizabeth Cole (5'01") finished second and third in the high jump.
- Rebecca Querfeld finished second in the shot put with a throw of 36'05".
The Falcons will be back in action after Easter break at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, NJ on Apr. 21-22.
