Weaver Breaks School Record at Paul Kaiser Classic

Shippensburg, PA – The men's and women's track and field program competed at the Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday and had a very great showing. This was their last meet before the MAC Championships occur on May 4-6.

Leanne Weaver broke the school record in the 800 meter race with an incredible time of 2:14.05. Rebecca Wiederrecht held the previous record of 2:14.06 and Weaver beat it by a tenth of a second. With that amazing time, Leanne Weaver finished first out of the 57 competitors and now sits at 22nd in the nation. Leanne Weaver also placed second in the 400 meter hurdles at the Paul Kaiser Classic and moved to third on Messiah's top-10 all-time list with a time of 1:03.47. This impressive time ranks Weaver t-24th in the nation for the 400m hurdles.

Jeremy White set a personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 22.06. White is now fourth on Messiah's top-10 all-time list beating his brother Nicholas White's time of 22.18.

Other notable performances from the men include:
  • Kirk Mummert finished second in the 5000m run with a time of 16:01.92.
  • Donnell McNair ran a 55.65 in the 400m hurdles, good enough for third place and a season's best time.
  • Benjamin Schott placed fifth in the 1500m with a time of 4:02.66.
  • Kenton Grossnickle (4:13.71) and Kris Tanquist (4:18.85) ran personal bests in the 1500m.
  • Nathaniel Pardoe finished fifth and set a personal record in the 800m with a time of 1:53.12.
  • Jeremy White placed sixth in the 200m and ran a personal best of 22.06.
  • Dane Cornelius finished fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.45m.
Other notable performances from the women include:
  • Alissa Rogers set a season's best and captured second place in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:34.66. Natalie Ross (10:45.74) placed third, Holly Eliason (11:14.96) finished fourth, Catherine Springer (11:19.13) placed fifth, and Rachel Aukamp (11:54.11) was seventh overall in the 3000m.
  • Elizabeth Cole finished third in the high jump for the Falcons with a jump of 1.58m.
  • Alyssa McMinn placed fifth in the discus throw with a mark of 37.70m.
  • Messiah's 4X100 team placed eighth overall with a time of 51.52.
Messiah will be back in action May 4-6 when they compete in the Outdoor MAC Championships in Center Valley, PA.
