Falcons Win Messiah Track and Field Invitational

Grantham, PA – The Messiah College men's track and field program finished in first place at the 2017 Messiah Track and Field Invitational. Messiah finished first (153 points) among 18 collegiate teams and fought through high winds to receive this honor. Frostburg State (112.50 points) placed second overall and Shippensburg (72 points) came in third place.

On the Track
Messiah represented well on their home turf. The highlight of the day was Jeremy White winning both the 200m (22.14) and the 400m (49.67) events and moving up on Messiah's all-time record list for both events. White moved to fourth on the top-10 list in the 200m and sixth in the 400m. Benjamin Schott and Joshua Pardoe both competed in the 3000m steeplechase in which Schott finished first and Pardoe came in third. Nathaniel Pardoe competed and won the 800m race with a time of 1:56.92.

Alex Scheib had an impressive run in the 1500m and finished second with a time of 4:03.43. Max Whitehead competed in the 400m hurdles for the Falcons and finished second with a time of 56.85s. Zachary Lofties ran in the 5000m for Messiah finished third with a solid time of 16:13.49.

The Falcons 4x400m "B" team finished second overall with a time of 8:17.03, while the "A" team finished in third place with a time of 8:21.57. Messiah's 4x100m relay team (44.45) also completed the day with a third place finish.

In the Jumps
Tim Moses, who is currently 2nd in the nation for pole vault, once again finished first with a mark of 16'0.75". Dane Cornelius placed second in the pole vault and set a personal record with a mark of 15'2.75". This accomplishment moves Cornelius to 21st in the national rankings. Donnell McNair had an outstanding day in the long jump pit. He jumped an outdoor season best of 21'09".

In the Throws
Christian Pavlovich placed third in the men's javelin throwing a mark of 199'06". Pavlovich was the only thrower to place in the top-three in Saturday's meet.

Messiah will be back in action on Apr. 12 when they travel to York, PA for the York College Twilight Meet.
