CHESTER, Pa. The women's swimming team defeated the Pride (158-103) and the Blazers (192-58) in the double-dual today after winning a total of nine events.
Nancie Ziegler led the way for Messiah as she won the 1000 Yard Backstroke (11:02.27) and the 500 Freestyle (5:26.07).
Kaylee Hollenbach also collected a win in two events, including the 100 Yard Backstroke (59.73) which was almost four seconds faster than second-place and the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:11.76). Hollenbach was also a part of the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay squad that took first-place with a time of 3:45.86.
Cassie Cotton, also a part of that squad, won the 50 Yard Freestyle (25.20) with teammate
Emily Decker (25.63) just .43 seconds behind her, taking second-place.
How It Happened
The Falcons started off strong in the meet and never looked back. Messiah won the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:52.77. The relay crew consisted of
Kaylee Hollenbach,
Nicea McCabe,
Maelyn Elder, and
Cassie Cotton. All members of this relay also won individual events

Kaylee Hollenbach collected wins in the 100 Yard Backstroke (59.73) and the 200 Yard Backstroke (2:11.76).
Holly Hagar finished in third-place in the 100 Yard Backstroke, finishing in 1:05.05. Messiah also had
Molly Martin (2:18.84) and
Holly Hagar (2:20.45) take second and third-place, respectively, in the 200 Yard Backstroke.
Nicea McCabe took first-place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:11.83 with teammate
Alley Sell following right behind her to take second-place with a time of 1:11.97.
Maelyn Elder secured the first-place spot in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:18.59 with
Alley Sell following behind her to take the third-place spot with a time of 2:21.14. Elder came in second-place in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:18.74.
Cassie Cotton took first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.20 with teammate
Emily Decker finishing in second-place with a time of 25.63. In the 100 Yard Freestyle,
Emily Decker was able to secure second-place with a time of 56.31, just .20 seconds behind first-place.
Nancie Ziegler dominated the 1000 Yard Freestyle in 11:02.27, which was just under 27 seconds ahead of second-place. Ziegler split a 5:29 in her 1000, which is 11 seconds faster than her race last week.
Molly Martin followed behind Ziegler, taking third-place with a time of 11:35.49. Ziegler also won the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:26.07) with teammate
Britta Heath following closely behind to take second-place with a time of 5:35.71. Heath came in second-place in the 200 Yard Freestyle in 2:06.14 which was nearly two seconds faster than the third-place finisher.
Brittany Pond followed behind Heath, taking fourth-place with a time of 2:08.28, just .18 seconds away from third-place.Â
Alley Sell took third-place in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:38.90 with teammates
Nicea McCabe (5th, 2:47.27) and
Molly Elspas (6th, 2:49.92) following behind her.
Cassie Cotton (2nd, 59.59) and
Maelyn Elder (3rd, 1:02.26) also put up strong efforts in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
The Falcons also won the 400 Freestyle Relay with help from
Cassie Cotton,
Emily Decker,
Nicea McCabe, and
Kaylee Hollenbach, combining to record a time of 3:45.86. Messiah also had a second crew take third-place in the 400 Freestyle Relay with
Brittany Pond,
Rachel Bruns,
Nicole Clemente, and
Nancie Ziegler working together to finish the race in 3:57.14.
