Final Results
Bethlehem, PA - Messiah men's track & field completed Indoor MAC Championships earlier this evening and took third place with a total of 90 points. They tied with Misericordia (90) while Steveson (164) and Widener(162) finished first and second respectively. An overall good weekend for the Falcons as som top-three finishes were earned as well as multiple All-MAC honors.
A big highlight of the weekend was
Aaron Gray winning the heptathlon with a total of 4,497 points which is personal record for him in this event. Gray finished first in the 60m hurdles, the pole vault, and two second place finishes in the 60 meters and high jump were all contributing factors to his victory.
Caleb Puleo placed third in the heptathlon with a personal record of 3,976 points. He took second in the 1000 meters and then finished in the top-five in multiple events to help with his feat.
To add to that, the men's 4x800 Relay was a very impressive showing as they took home the gold with a time of 8:04.51. The team of
Alex Scheib,
Tyler McFeaters,
Matthew Royer, and
Derrick Peterson earned their second All-MAC honor of the weekend after winning the Distance Medley yesterday.
Tyler McFeaters ran in the one-mile run and finished fourth place with a good time of 4:25.17 which is personal record for him in this event.
Matthew Royer also set a personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.50 and placed fourth overrall. In the 3000 meter run
Benjamin Schott ran a time of 8:44.89, which earned him a fifth place finish, was just three seconds shy of the program record.
In the pol vault,
Brett Garbrick put forth a strong performance earning a personal record of 4.25m to place second and earn a Second Team All-MAC honor.
Benjamin Danso (6.57m) and
Brendan Provan (6.56) placed seventh and eighth respectively in the long jump and both of those marks were PR's for both Falcons. Erik Dyril came very close to points in the shot put but had a good throw of 12.54m to earn a PR.
Friday Update - 9:00 p.m.
Messiah earned their first gold medal, and First Team All-MAC honor, in the Distance Medley Relay behind a strong performance by
Tyler McFeaters,
Derrick Peterson,
Matthew Royer, and
Alex Scheib. The foursome clocked in at 10:29.61 which was also a season-best time for the team.
The Falcons strong start continued in the 5000m Run where
Benjamin Schott took third place with a time of 15:01.21. The run was good for a Third Team honor.
Kyler Shea finished eighth in the race with a time of 15:33.57.
Aaron Gray is in second place in the Heptathlon with 1887 points thanks to strong finishes in the 60 meters, long jump, and shot put. Teammate
Caleb Puleo is behind him in third place with 1778 points. They will both continue competition tomorrow with four more events to conclude the Heptathlon.
