CARLISLE, Pa. – The men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson College. There were strong performances by a number of Falcons this afternoon.
Messiah will compete next at the Highlander Invitational in Houghton, NY on February 10.
See below for notable performances from today's meet:
Men:
- In the long jump Benjamin Danso finished in first place with a jump of 6.56m, while teammates Donnell McNair (6.48m) and Brendan Provan (6.46m) finished in second and fourth respectively.
- Brett Koch competed in the high jump and hit a mark of 1.66m which was good enough for a second-place finish.
- Aaron Gray hit a mark of 3.80m in the pole vault finishing in second place and teammate Caleb Christner placed third with a mark of 3.80m.
- In the 55m hurdles, Michael Williams ran a time of 8.93 seconds finishing in third place.
- Alex Scheib (4:28.05) and Benjamin Schott (4:28.98) both ran in the one-mile and placed fifth and sixth respectively.
- McNair also did well in the 400-meter run finishing in third with a time of 53.71.
- For the shot put, Jordan Sponsler made a throw of 11.75 to place fifth.
- Then in the 4x400 meter relay, Shane Braunworth, Dale Lingle, Christian Pavlovich, and Daniel Wood finished in second place with a time of 3:48.57.
Women:
- Kiera Wells had a strong day finishing in first place in the 55 meters with a time of 7.68 seconds and then placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 29.03 seconds.
- McKenna Welshans also competed in the 200 meters and finished third with a time of 29.55 seconds.
- Alyssa McMinn had another solid weekend competing in the shot put with a second-place finish throwing a mark of 11.85m.
- In the long jump, Rachel Romain placed fourth with a jump of 4.72m and then took home first place in the triple jump with a mark of 10.32m.
- Danielle Cardone competed in the one-mile run and finished fourth with a time of 5:31.15.
- Taylor Wiederrecht ran in the 55 meter hurdles and placed third with a time of 9.37 seconds.
