SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Messiah track and field teams had some athletes competing at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet this evening and two runners
Leanne Weaver and
Benjamin Schott both shined on the track.
Leanne Weaver ran in the 800-meter race and finished with a personal record time of 2:10.97. Weaver's time is also currently ranked seventh nationally and she has a great chance to qualify for nationals. The top 22 runners compete at nationals which will be determined this coming Saturday.
Benjamin Schott put forth a great performance in the 3000m steeplechase a couple weeks ago but today's run was even better. The junior runner finished with a new program record time of 8:58.50 and also broke the MAC conference record. Schott is currently ranked second nationally in this event which essentially will qualify him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
