WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Messiah women's swimming team won 11 of the 14 events contested on Saturday afternoon to claim a pair of lopsided duals against King's and Arcadia. The Falcons defeated the Arcadia Knights 178-84 while also earning a 177-85 victory over the host King's Monarchs. Messiah's strong showing included three pool records, including the 400 Free Relay team that broke their own pool record with a time of 3:47.20.
Kaylee Hollenbach also set a pair of pool records while winning the 100 Back and 200 Back with times of 1:00.90 and 2:13.15, respectively.

Nancie Ziegler earned back-to-back victories with wins in the 1000 and 200 Free in consecutive women's events for a tough double early in the meet. She won the 1000 Free with a time of 11:12.86, just under 10 seconds ahead of her teammate
Britta Heath (11:22.21) in second place, while edging Arcadia's Megan Hupp by less than a second in the 200 Free with a time of 2:02.78. In addition to the two victories in the early portion of the meet, Ziegler claimed the 500 Free as well in a time of 5:29.64, for three individual victories.

Messiah started the day with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of
Kaylee Hollenbach,
Alley Sell,
Maelyn Elder, and
Cassie Cotton finishing the event in 1:53.20 to top the second-place King's team (1:54.31) by more than a second. In addition to taking first-palce in the event, Messiah's team of
Holly Hagar,
Rachel Bruns,
Emily Decker, and
Brittany Pond took third with a time of 1:59.89.

As mentioned,
Kaylee Hollenbach turned in an impressive day in the pool. She competed in two relays and two individual races, winning all four with three total pool records on the day. In the 100 Back she cruised to more than a three second victory with a time a 1:00.90 ahead of King's Elizabeth Savidge (1:04.13). Just over a second behind Savidge was Messiah's
Holly Hagar in third with a time of 1:05.15.

Hollenbach and Hagar went first and third in the 200 Back as well with Hollenbach once again destroying the field. Her time of 2:13.15 was over six and a half seconds ahead of second-place. Hagar finished with a time of 2:20.95 to take third.

Messiah turned in an extremely strong showing in the 50 Free with three of the top-five spots going to Falcons.
Cassie Cotton led the Messiah effort with a time of 25.20 to finish first in the event, while
Emily Decker (26.42) and
Brittany Pond (26.70) took third and fifth, respectively.

Cotton and Decker also went first and third in the 100 Free with the senior Cotton winning the event in a time of 55.64. Second-place went to Arcadia's Madison McKay (57.91 and Decker finished third with a time of 58.23.

Maelyn Elder won a pair of events with first-place finishes in both the 100 Fly and 200 Fly. First Elder claimed the 200 Fly by more than five seconds, by getting to the wall in 2:18.16. Arcadia's Rachel Samson finished in second with a time of 2:23.28. Elder then went on to claim the 100 Fly in a time of 1:02.55. The race was much closer than the 200 Fly, as Elder had to fend off Arcadia's Madison McKay, who finished second with a time of 1:03.09.

While junior
Alley Sell did not claim an individual event, she did finish the day with three top-three finishes. Second-place finishes in the 100 Breast (1:10.66) and 200 IM (2:22.06) highlighted the effort for Sell. She also earned a third-place finish in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:38.56.

Messiah wrapped-up the day with a victory in the 400 Free Relay. The team of
Cassie Cotton,
Brittany Pond,
Emily Decker, and
Kaylee Hollenbach got to the wall in 3:47.20 to win the event by 3.48 seconds and complete a stellar day for the Falcons in the pool.

Messiah moves to 6-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference and will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 18, for their first home event of the season. The Falcons will host the Stevenson Mustangs and the Immaculata Might Macs at 5:00 p.m.
