Falcons Perform Well At F&M

LANCASTER, Pa - The men's track and field team competed at Franklin and Marshall for the second time this season on Friday night. Caleb Christner jumped a lifetime personal best of 4.40m in the pole vault to lead the Falcons' performance. Jack Franceschina took sixth-place in the mile, running a time of 4:40.50 to lead Messiah in that event. Chad Long led the charge for Messiah in the 3,000m with an eight-place finish, running a time of 9:33.40.

In the Results
In the 60m dash, Pat Zahn led the way for Messiah, running a 7.57, good for 13th-place. Benny Cole (7.63) and Ezra Lee (8.01) also ran the 60m for the Falcons. Zahn followed up his performance with a ninth-place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 24.56. Cole competed in the 200m as well, making his way through the line in 25.42. Ryan Thurber followed closely behind Cole, running the 200m in 25.72. Thurber kept things going for Messiah in the 400m, running a 55.81, good for ninth-place. In the 500m dash, Shane Braunworth took fifth-place, coming through the line in 1:12.80.

The 800m was led by Isaac Covert for the Falcons. Covert finished in 14th-place overall, running a 2:07.56. Teammate Cassidy Hoffman followed closely behind, running a 2:08.39. 

In the mile, Jack Franceschina led the charge for Messiah, recording a six-place finish with a 4:40.50. Josiah McCarthy was under ten seconds away from Franceschina, making his way through the finish line in 4:48.28, good for 10th-place.

Messiah had six runners compete in the 3,000m run with Chad Long and Matt Higgs highlighting the Falcons' efforts. Long and Higgs both went sub-10 with a Long finishing the race in 9:33.40 (eighth-place) and Higgs coming through the line in 9:48.99 (12th-place). Ryan McAllister followed Higgs closely, running a 10:03.83, putting him in 14th-place.

In the pole vault, it only took Caleb Christner four jumps to clear a lifetime best jump of 4.40m, one foot more than his previous best. Christner started the day off with a 3.95m clearance and never looked back as he had a perfect slate to the end of his competition. Christner's clearance of 4.40m puts him at first in the conference by five centimeters. Clayton Miller also competed in the pole vault, working his way to a fifth-place finish with a 3.80m jump.

In the throws, Christian Pilawski took 12th-place in the shot put with a 11.23m throw and took 12th-place in the weight throw with a 10.76m throw.
