Falcons Victorious Over Warriors in Conference Dual

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah women's swim team hosted the Lycoming Warriors in a conference dual Saturday afternoon at the Frederickson Natatorium. The Falcons would earn top spot in ten individual events, leading to a 153-89 victory.

Nancie Ziegler led the way for the Falcons taking first place in the 100 Free (1:00.37), 200 Free (2:06.15), and 200 Fly (2:25.09).

Katelyn Boyce would finish first twice on the day, winning the 100 Back in a time of 1:05.43 and winning the 200 Breast with a time of 2:33.47.

The Falcon's Rachel Bruns won the 1000 Free with a time of 12:08.70, touched second in the 500 Free with a time of 5:48.96, and sprinted to a third place finish in the 50 when she touched in 27.06.

Molly Elspas blew past her competition in the 200 Back when her time of 2:22.17 was the best by almost 11 seconds. Molly Elspas also collected points for her team when she touched second in the 200 Free in a time of 2:12.59.

Maelyn Elder spent most of her day at the top of the leaderboard, as she placed first in the 200 Individual Medley (2:27.57), second in the 200 Fly (2:25.39 - just three tenths of a second off the pace of first place Ziegler), and second place in the 100 Fly (1:07.31).

Emily Griesemer would swim the 100 Fly in a time of 1:06.95, earning her top spot in the event. Emily Griesemer would also touch third in the 100 Back with a time of 1:08.44.

Alley Sell would have two top three individual finishes on the day, placing second in the 100 Breast (1:10.67) and third in the 500 Free (5:55.75).

The Falcons would continue to score by committee as Ella Sobek finished third in the 1000 Free (13:02.34), Nicea McCabe finished second in the 50 Free (25.95), Abby Fontana touched second in the 100 Free (1:04.55), and Kaitlyn Chemidlin finished third in the 200 Breast (3:01.92).

The Falcons started the day with a second and third place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The second place team of Maelyn Elder, Kaitlyn Chemidlin, Alley Sell, and Emily Griesemer finished in a time of 2:01.70. They would be followed by the Falcons team of Caitlin Knapp, Molly Elspas, Katelyn Boyce, and Nicea McCabe when they touched in a time of 2:06.64.

Messiah would finish their day with first and third place finishes in the 400 Free Relay. The team of Katelyn Boyce, Kaitlyn Chemidlin, Molly Elspas and Alley Sell would claim top spot with a time of 3:58.20. The Falcon team of Rachel Bruns, Ella Sobek, Nancie Ziegler, and Emily Griesemer would touch third with a time of 4:04.19

The Falcons will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 22 when they host a dual meet against the Gettysburg Bullets at 5:00 p.m.
