WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Messiah wrestling team went undefeated at the Waynesburg duals Saturday afternoon, defeating Washington & Jefferson College 28-25, Johns Hopkins University 37-12, and Waynesburg University 30-16. Sean Redington helped lead the Falcons charge, going undefeated in his three matches on the day while a host of other Falcons picked up two victories. This moves Messiah to 3-0 on the season in dual matches, while also having two tournament victories under their belt. They will be back in action next Saturday morning at Muhlenberg College for the Scotty Wood Duals beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Messiah defeats Washington & Jefferson College - 28-25
At 125, Redington got the Falcons out to a hot start in their first dual of the day, picking up a fall over Manny Dovshek to make it 6-0. The Falcons took a 17-0 lead after Josiah Gehr picked up a 19-3 tech. fall before Dalton Daugherty recorded a fall over Vinny Palm. The Presidents then picked up a tech. fall to make it 17-5 before Stephen Maloney scored a tech. fall at 157 to make it 22-5. A Washington & Jefferson major decision made it 22-9. A forfeit at 174 made it 28-9 before the Presidents made a late push, but it was not enough. They scored a major decision and two falls at 184, 197, and 285 to make the final score 28-25.

Messiah defeats Johns Hopkins University - 37-12
Redington got Messiah out to a good start once again with a tech. fall to put the Falcons up 5-0. Jordan Howard won by decision at 133 before a forfeit at 141, and a Nick Barnhart fall victory at 149 made it 20-0 Messiah. A Kevin Edwards tech. fall was sandwiched in between two Blue Jays falls to keep Messiah with a steady 25-12 lead. That was as close as Johns Hopkins got in this one, as Messiah picked up two decision victories and a forfeit at 184, 197, and 285 to give Messiah their second victory of the day 37-12.

Messiah defeats Waynesburg University - 30-16
The Falcons got out to a quick 18-0 lead against the Yellow Jackets. Redington scored a tech. fall, Gehr and Cornell picked up major decisions, and Barnhart had a tech. fall to give them the 18-0 advantage. A decision victory and fall gave Waynesburg nine quick points to cut the lead to 18-9. Brian Shermeyer got the Falcons rolling again at 174 with a fall victory over Caleb Baxter to make it 24-9 with three matches left. David Stevens earned a fall at 184 to extend the lead to 30-9. This was enough to give Messiah the win before the Yellow Jackets scored a decision and major decision to end the dual with a score of 30-16.
