Grantham, PA – Messiah men's swimming suffer a 134 - 52 loss in a non-conference dual with the Gettysburg Bullets Friday evening at the Fredricksen Natorium. The Falcons had five individual swimmers place in events throughout the dual and placed in both relay events.
The Falcon's night was highlighted by a thrilling 200 Medley Relay that out touched the Bullets by eight hundreds of a second.
Avery Barley's dominant start gave a second and a half lead to the Falcons after 50 yards, however with only the freestyle remaining the Bullets had given themselves an ever so slight lead.
Andrew Leeper was able to regain the lead and hold on, giving the Falcons a time of 1:37.66 and first place. The Medley Relay team was rounded out by
Isaac McCabe and
Ridge Hagar.
Avery Barley also had second and third place finishes on the day. Swimming the 100 Back in a time of 52.86 would earn him second, and swimming the 200 Individual Medley in 2:02.68 would place him third.
Ridge Hagar was also able to touch in a top three position multiple times Friday evening.
Ridge Hagar placed second in the 100 Fly (54.20) and third in the 100 Back (55.16).
The Falcons had two other swimmers touch second during Friday's dual.
Daniel Logan swam to a second place finish in the 100 Free when he touched in a time of 50.28, and
Isaac McCabe's time of 1:03.08 in the 100 Breast would allow him to touch second.
Tyler Wilkinson's time of 5:08.12 in the 500 Free earned him a third place finish.
The Falcon's rounded out their day with a second place finish in the 200 Free Relay. The team of
Andrew Leeper,
Ridge Hagar,
Tyler Wilkinson, and
Avery Barley touched in a time of 1:29.61.
The Falcon's will be back in action when they attend the Gettysburg Invite next weekend. Next weekend's meet will get underway at 6:00 p.m. at Gettysburg College.
