Multiple Top-10 Performances At The Armory

NEW YORK, NY. - The men's track and field team tied for sixth-place out of 27 teams today at the NYC Division III Invitational at the Armory. The Falcons' efforts were highlighted by top-10 performances in the 200m, 800m, mile, and 3,000m.

On The Track
Brendan Provan led the charge for the Falcons in the 60m and the 200m. Provan ran the 60m in 7.28 seconds, good for 11th-place. Provan earned himself a spot on the program's top-10 list with a 23.76 second 200m race, good for 22nd in the meet and eighth all-time. Caleb Puleo also put up strong performances in the 60m and 200m. Puleo ran just .02 seconds off his personal best in the 60m with a 7.44 and ran a 24.07 in the 200m. 

Andrew Schott ran a personal best in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 12th-place with a 9.38.

A trio of Falcons ran the 400m today, including freshmen Ryan Thurber, who led the charge. Thurber came across the finish line in 54.27 to take 30th-place overall. Shane Braunworth finished just .02 seconds after Thurber, coming through the line in 54.29 to take 31st-place. 

In the 800m, Matthew Royer led the Falcons, finishing in 4th-place after running a time of 1:56.81, good for sixth all-time. Alex Scheib also went sub-two minutes in the 800m, running 1:59.67 which put him in 19th-place. 

Tyler McFeaters kept things going for Messiah, running a 4:18.88 in the mile. McFeaters' time put him in second-place in the meet and moved him from 10th to third on the all-time top-10 list. Brandin Dyche (4:36.56), Jack Franceschina (4:37.87), and Chad Long (4:40.97) also competed in the mile, finishing in 30th-place, 33rd-place, and 39th-place, respectively. 

Benjamin Schott led the way for Messiah in the 3,000m run. Schott ran a time of 8:44.46 to take sixth-place overall. Nate Romberger was the next Falcon to come through the line, running the 3,000 meters in 9:08.63 to finish in 21st-place. Zachary Lofties followed closely behind Romberger, coming through the line in 9:10.65, good for 22nd-place. Galen Fitzkee wrapped up the Falcons' performance in the 3,000m, running 9:17.96.

In the 5,000m, Kyler Shea took fifth-place, running 15:23.49. Kirk Mummert came through the line just a few seconds after Shea, running a time of 15:28.46 to take seventh-place and earn himself a spot on the all-time top-10 list. Eric Denlinger finished in 15th-place after coming across the line in 16:03.05. 

The Field Events
Erik Dryli led the way in the throws, finishing in 15th-place in the shot put and 17th-place in the weight throw. Dryli threw 11.91m in shot put and 12.12m in weight. Christian Pilawski threw 10.94m in shot put to take 23rd-place and 9.72m in the weight, finishing in 26th-place. 

Brendan Provan wrapped up his performances with a 13.64m mark in the triple jump, good for third-place.

What's Up Next
The Falcons' next meet will be on Feb. 16 when they travel to Susquehanna University for their last opportunity to qualify for the MAC Championships.
