BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Messiah College men's track and field team finished day one of the 2019 MAC Indoor Championships in fifth-place with one silver medal in the distance medley relay and one bronze medal in the 5,000m run.

Brendan Provan fought his way to the 60m dash finals and will look to earn a spot on the podium in the 60m and the triple jump.
In The Results
Brendan Provan hit a lifetime personal best in the 60m dash, running a 7.13 to advance to tomorrow's finals. Provan's time moves him into second all-time on Messiah's top-10 list.Â
In the 5,000m,
Benjamin Schott led all Falcons, earning a bronze medal after running a 15:04.47. Schott was up against familiar opponents Franklin Livolsi and Patrick Watson. Livolsi set a new meet record, running a 14:49.45 to finish in first while Watson edged out Schott with a 15:03.47.Â
Kyler Shea also ran his way onto the podium, coming across the finish line in 15:17.11 to finish in fifth-place.Â
Andrew Schott ran a lifetime personal best in his conference championship debut, running a 9.08 to clinch the eighth seed in tomorrow's final. Schott's time moves him from ninth to sixth all-time in Messiah's top-10 list.Â
A 4x200m relay team composed of
Brendan Provan,
Caleb Puleo, Benjamin Cole, and
Pat Zahn worked their way to a fifth-place finish in the race with a time of 1:35.37.
Alex Scheib led the charge for the Falcons in the distance medley relay, running the 1200m lead leg before passing it off to
Ryan Thurber who ran the 400m portion of the event.
Brandin Dyche ran the 800m third leg and handed the baton off to
Tyler McFeaters to run the last leg of the relay. McFeaters closed in style, battling with Misericordia to the finish line to finish in second-place with a time of 10:24.52, just .41 seconds off of the Cougars.
Caleb Puleo had a next to perfect day in the heptathlon, earning personal bests in three of the four events competed in day one of the two-day heptathlon. Puleo started the day with a .01 second personal best in the 60m dash, running a 7.41, good for 742 points. Puleo's 60m time puts him eighth on Messiah's Indoor Top-10 list. Puleo moved on to the long jump, jumping 5.96m on his first attempt but hitting a 6.04m mark on his second attempt. Puleo got the personal bests' rolling once again in the shot put, throwing 11.06m on his second attempt. To end the day, Puleo had a bumpy road to a new personal best in the high jump. Puleo missed his first attempt at 1.58m, cleared it on his second attempt, and followed that same pattern for 1.61m. He went on to make a third attempt clearance at 1.64m before clearing 1.67m and his new personal best, 1.70m on his first attempts. Puleo finished day one of the heptathlon with an overall score of 2,430 points, putting him in second-place behind Stevenson's Ritchie Case, who finished the day with 2,709 points.
