Falcons Put On Show For Home Crowd

Final Results

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The men's track and field team put on a strong showing in front of their home crowd, finishing the day in third place with a total of 105 points. Brendan Provan stormed through the line in the 100m to become the first Falcon since 2012 to break the 11 second barrier in the event, finishing the race with a time of 10.96 seconds, good for fourth all-time in program history. The Falcons took first in the 3,000m steeplechase, 5,000m and the decathlon.

In The Results
Brendan Provan became just the fourth Falcon in program history to run sub-11 in the 100m as he won the event with a time of 10.96 seconds. 

Ryan Thurber and Shane Braunworth highlighted the Falcons' efforts in the 400m, running times of 52.92 seconds and 53.24, respectively. 

Matthew Royer ran just .08 seconds off of his personal best in the 800m, finishing the race in 1:55.19 to take second place. Alex Scheib was the next Falcon to come through the line, finishing with a time of 1:58.71.

Scheib wasn't done for the day as he ran in the 1500m, taking third place after crossing the finish line in 4:04.53. Benjamin Schott also ran in the 1500m, taking second with a time of 3:59.10. 

Kirk Mummert won the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:50.70, more than nine seconds faster than second place.

In the 5,000m, Kyler Shea commanded the race, finishing in first with a time of 15:33.83. Nate Romberger came through the line next, finishing in second with a time of 15:50.48. Shea and Romberger were the only two competitors to run sub-16 minute races.

Matt Higgs led the way for Messiah in the 10,000m, finishing the day in third place with a time of 34:09.67.

Andrew Schott finished the day with a personal best time of 16.49 seconds in the 110m hurdles, good for fifth place on the day.

In the 400m hurdles, Joel Rhinehart set a new personal best time of 59.94 seconds to finish in eighth place. 

In The Relays
The Falcons took second in both the 4x400m relay and the 4x800m relay. In the 4x400m relay, the Falcons fought off Elizabethtown to claim second place with a time of 3:33.27. Messiah came through the line in 8:21.04 in the 4x800m relay,

In The Field
Clayton Miller represented the Falcons in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.45m.

Dale Lingle was the lone Falcon in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.67m on his first attempt. 

Brendan Provan jumped in both long jump and triple jump, hitting marks of 6.11m and 13.08m, respectively. 

Erik Dyrli and Christian Pilawski led the way for Messiah in the shot put, throwing 11.45m and 11.09m, respectively. Dyrli also led Messiah in the discus and hammer throw as he threw 35.96m in the discus and 36.17m in the hammer. Zachary Zigarelli and Christian Pilawski followed closely behind Dyrli in the discus as Zigarelli threw 33.74m and Pilawski hit a mark of 33.68m.

Clayton Miller led the Falcons in javelin, finishing the day in sixth place with a mark of 45.82m on his third throw. Christian Pilawski threw 45m even to take eighth place.

What's Up Next
The Falcons have a quick turnaround time this week as they travel to Shippensburg on Wednesday afternoon for a mid-week meet on Apr. 17.
