SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The men's track and field team put up strong marks at the Shippensburg University Mid-Week meet for Easter break.
Brendan Provan and
Erik Dyrli highlighted the Falcons' efforts with top-10 marks in their respective events.
In The Results
Brendan Provan led the way for the Falcons in the 100m, 200m, and the long jump. Provan finished the day in sixth place in the 100m, coming through the line with a time of 11.22 seconds. In the 200m, Provan ran a lifetime personal best time of 22.56 seconds to put himself eighth all-time in program history. Provan finished his day with a 6.18m jump in long jump, good for 13th place in the event.Â
Benjamin Schott and
Matthew Royer were the top two Falcons in the 400m with Schott running a 50.76 to take fifth overall with Royer coming through the line in 51.59 seconds to finish in sixth.Â
Alex Scheib charged through the line in the 800m, finishing in second place overall with a time of 1:57.97.
Jack Franceschina was the next closest Falcon, finishing in 10th, just above the two minute barrier with a time of 2:01.24.
Matt Higgs (seventh, 4:12.48) and
Brandin Dyche (4:13.93) battled their way to the finish in the 1500m with Higgs edging out Dyche by just over a second, putting them seventh and ninth, respectively. Higgs also competed in the 3,000m, coming through the line in 9:14.89 to finish in fifth.Â
Adam Barley represented the Falcons in the 5,000m, finishing in second place with a time of 17:14.01.Â
In the 110m hurdles,
Andrew Schott ran just off his personal best time, coming through the line in 16.50 seconds to finish in 11th place. In the 400m hurdles,
Joel Rhinehart and
Shane Braunworth highlighted the Falcons' performance, finishing the race in 1:02.60 and 1:02.71, respectively.Â
In the high jump,
Dale Lingle cleared a height of 1.60m to finish in ninth place.
In pole vault,
Clayton Miller led the way for Messiah after clearing a 3.50m bar.
Gabriel Tiday followed closely behind, clearing 3.20m on his second attempt.
Erik Dyrli led the way for the Falcons in the shot put and hammer. Dyrli threw 11.54m in shot put but his highlight of the day came in the hammer when he threw 40.40m to put himself sixth all-time in program history.Â
Christian Pilawski (43.92m),
Clayton Miller (43.22m), and
Zachary Zigarelli (43.05m) all threw over 43m in the javelin.Â
What's Up Next
The Falcons will have the weekend off from competition and will resume action on Apr. 25-27 as some members of the team will compete at Penn Relays and some will return to Shippensburg for the Paul Kaiser Invitational. These meets will be the last opportunities for Falcons to qualify for the Outdoor MAC Championships that begin on May 2.Â
