Schott Sets Program Record To Highlight Falcons' Weekend

PRINCETON, NJ - Benjamin Schott broke his own program record in the 3,000m steeplechase after storming through the line to take second place overall at the Larry Ellis Inviational. Nate Romberger also competed for the Falcons, taking on the 5,000m at Widener University.

In The Results
Benjamin Schott started the race in 11th place among Division I, Division II, and Division III student-athletes. Schott worked his way into ninth by the 600m split, coming through at 1:50.56. Schott moved up six places by the 1,000m mark of the race as he came through in 3:01.41. From there, Schott maintained that place and until moving into second and later first by the 2,200m split. By the 2,600m split, Schott had fallen into second place but he ran his fastest 400m of the race (1:08.30) to seal the second place finish along with his lifetime best and program record time of 8:53.74. Schott's time will put him unofficially in the top-5 in the country. 

Matthew Royer competed in the men's 800m at Princeton and came through the line in 1:57.00 to finish in 17th place. Royer split a 57.54 on his first lap and ran 59.56 in his last 400m to move up two places.

Nate Romberger represented the Falcons at the Widener Invitational in the 5,000m. Romberger finished 47th overall with a time of 15:56.54.

What's Up Next
The Falcons will travel to Shippensburg and University of Pennslyvania next week for the Paul Kaiser Invitational and Penn Relays.
