Falcons Led By Puleo In Day One At MAC's

CHESTER, Pa. - Caleb Puleo finished his first day of the decathlon in fourth place with a total score of 2,947 points. Puleo is currently 477 points behind first place, Ritchie Case from Stevenson University, who has a score of 3,424 points. The men's 4x800m relay team earned the Falcons' first set of medals at the championship with a second place finish.

Decathlon Results
Puleo started the championship with the third fastest 100m time in the field after running an 11.73 into a headwind to grab 705 points. In the long jump, Puleo jumped 5.79m to earn 542 points. Next, Puleo moved to shot put and threw 10.31m to earn 504 points. He grabbed another 504 points in the high jump with a jump of 1.65m in the high jump to set his score at 2,255 points, sitting in fifth place with just the 400m remaining. The highlight of his day came in that last event after he set a new collegiate personal best time in the 400m with a time of 52.75 seconds to move into fourth place and and finish the day with 2,947 points overall.

Overall Results
Alex Scheib, Ryan Thurber, Brandin Dyche, and Matthew Royer brought home the bronze medals in the 4x800m relay with a time of 7:47.82. In the 10,000m, Kyler Shea highlighted the Falcons' efforts with a sixth place finish after running his race in 32:25.86.

What's Up Next
The Falcons are sitting in seventh place overall after today's events. Caleb Puleo gets started again tomorrow morning at 9:30am with the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1,500m all remaining. Messiah will compete in a handful of preliminary events tomorrow on the track with some field events competing in the trials and finals tomorrow afternoon.
