WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Messiah men's swim team claimed a 146-107 victory over the King's College Monarchs on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons placed first in each of the relays and took the top spot in seven other individual events.
Avery Barley took the victory in both of his individual events for the Falcons, taking first place in the 50 Free (22.86) and 200 Back (2:02.82).
The first-year standout was joined by teammates
Isaac McCabe,
Ridge Hagar, and
Andrew Leeper in the 200 Medley Relay. The team clocked in with a time of 1:41.01, beating the Monarchs by nearly two seconds. The second relay of the day saw the Falcons finish with a time of 1:31.47 in the 200 Free Relay, including contributions by
Avery Barley,
Andrew Leeper,
Ridge Hagar, and
Tyler Wilkinson.
Ridge Hagar also took two individual events this afternoon. After finishing first in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:03.69, he followed with another victory in the 100 Fly. Getting to the wall in a time of 55.06, just ahead of teammate
Daniel Logan (56.96).
Andrew Leeper proved victorious in multiple events throughout the contest, taking first place in the 100 Back (58.47), 100 Free (50.59), and contributing significantly to the two first-place relay finishes.
Tyler Wilkinson finished the day with a pair of top-two finishes. Wilkinson first won the 200 Free (1:49.40), before earning a second-place finish in the 500 Free in a time of 5:01.96. In the 200 Free, Wilkinson was closed followed by
Daniel Logan once again. Logan took second in a time of 1:49.81.
Mason Kennedy also had a successful day, earning two second-place finishes in the 1000 Free (10:53.71) and 200 IM (2:13.91). Kennedy also took fourth place in the 500 Free with a time of 5:22.93.
The Falcons will be back in the pool for competition next weekend when they host a double-dual meet against Immaculata University and Stevenson University at 5:00pm on Friday night. The Falcons will complete their busy weekend with a home dual against the Stevens Ducks on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
