GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Messiah men's swimming team wrapped up the 2019-20 regular season on Saturday afternoon by splitting a home double-dual against the Albright Lions and Misericordia Cougars. The Falcons defeated the Cougars 151-105, but fell to the Lions 138-122.

Messiah claimed a total of four events on the day, including a win in the final relay of the afternoon in the 400 Free Relay (3:15.70).

The Falcons will be back in the pool in two weeks when they head to the MAC Championships in York, Pa. at the Graham Aquatic Center from Feb. 13-16.

In The Results
The Falcons started off the day with a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay as
Avery Barley,
Isaac McCabe,
Ridge Hagar, and
Andrew Leeper combined for a time of 1:38.52, finishing just behind Albright who touched the wall in 1:38.17.
Mason Kennedy led the way for Messiah in the 1,000 yard free, finishing in third place with a time of 10:42.15. In the 200 yard free,
Tyler Wilkinson took second place with a time of 1:48.68, just over a second off of the first place finisher from Albright. Wilkinson also took third place later in the day in the 100 yard freestyle, finishing in 49.80 seconds.
Messiah's
Ridge Hagar won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.40 seconds while
Caleb Munoz touched the wall in 58.18 seconds to take fourth place. In the 100 yard breaststroke,
Isaac McCabe took second place with a 1:03.32, edging out Albright's Corey Hausler who finished in 1:03.63.Â
Avery Barley put down a dominant performance in the 200 yard butterfly, winning by over seven seconds as he finished the event in 2:02.13.Â
The Falcons had an exciting 50 yard freestyle as
Andrew Leeper and
Daniel Logan battled their way to the finish line, finishing in first and second with Leeper earning a slight edge over Logan. Leeper came to the wall in 22.66 seconds while Logan touched in 22.88 seconds as the duo took first and second in the event.Â
Avery Barley and
Caleb Munoz took second and third in the 200 yard backstroke with Barley coming through in 1:59.35 while Munoz finished in 2:10.43.Â
Isaac McCabe took second place in the 200 yard breaststroke, making his way to the wall in 2:17.68 while teammate
Ridge Hagar finished in third with a time of 2:18.32.Â
Daniel Logan led the way for the Falcons in the 500 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:01.07 to end the event in fourth place.Â
In the 100 yard butterfly, the Falcons took fifth and sixth with
Andrew Leeper finishing in 57.87 while
Caleb Munoz finished in 1:00.90.
In the 400 yard IM,
Ridge Hagar led the charge for Messiah as he finished the event in 4:20.28, good for second place.
Mason Kennedy finished in 4:36.94 to take fourth place.
Messiah ended the day in fashion as they battled their way through the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Daniel Logan, and
Tyler Wilkinson combined for a time of 3:15.70 to defeat Albright by over a second as the Lions finished in 3:16.73. Wilkinson had the fastest split time for the Falcons as the anchor, swimming his 100 yard freestyle in 48.36 seconds to help Messiah end the day on a high note.Â
What's Up Next
The Falcons are back in action on Feb. 13 and will stay in the pool until Feb. 16 as they battle for the MAC Championship in York, Pa. The Falcons will start swimming at 10am on all four days of the MAC Championships with the team champions being crowned on Feb. 16 at the end of the day.
