Big Weekend Earns Three Falcons MAC Weekly Awards

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference announced their weekly awards for the week ending Mar. 2 and three Falcons were honored in the awards. Kathryn Wiederrecht, Isabel Seise, and Leah Springer were the Falcons to earn the awards.

Wiederrecht put together a great performance over the weekend that ultimately led to her being named the 2020 MAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. She won the 200 Meter over the weekend, running a 25.73. She was also part of the 4x200 Meter (1:46.81) and 4x400 Meter (4:04.99) teams that also took the gold for the Falcons.

Seise had a great weekend at the plate for the Falcons, helping Messiah sweep Catholic University Saturday afternoon on the road. She went 4-7 on the day which included three RBIs, a home run and a double to help lead the Falcons.

Springer helped lead Messiah to the 2020 MAC Commonwealth Championship, their fourth in a row. By doing this, she earned 2020 MAC Commonwealth Women's Basketball Championship MVP. Springer scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the semifinal win over Stevenson before scoring 27 points and grabbing five rebounds in the championship win over Albright.

MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Junior Kathryn Wiederrecht was named the 2020 MAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. Wiederrecht was a three-time gold medalist and earned three separate All-MAC First Team honors at the MAC Championship. The junior won the 200-Meter dash (25.73) and was a member of the winning 4x200 Meter (1:46.81) and 4x400 Meter (4:04.99) relay teams. Wiederrecht also earn silver medals and was named All-MAC Second Team in the 60-Meter dash (7.90) and 60-Meter hurdles (9.22).

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Junior Isabel Seise put together a fine offensive day in a doubleheader sweep of the Catholic Cardinals on Saturday. In game one, Seise drove home the first two runs of the game with an RBI single and a solo home run, going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, a run scored and a home run. In game two, she went 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a double.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Senior Leah Springer was named the 2020 MAC Commonwealth Women's Basketball Championship MVP after leading the top-seeded Falcons to the 2020 MAC Commonwealth Title. Springer scored a game-high 27 points to go with five rebounds, an assist and a block in the 78-69 win over Albright in the title game. The senior scored 26 points to go with 15 rebounds, three assists and three steals in Messiah's 78-44 win over Stevenson in the semifinal round.
