Men's Swimming Begins Gettysburg Invitational

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Messiah men's swimming team traveled to Gettysburg College this weekend to compete in the two-day Gettysburg Invitational. The Falcons competed alongside six other schools, picking up 132 team points and finishing in seventh place.
 
The Swathmore Garnet won the men's competition with 1008 team points while Gettysburg finished in second with 876 points. Ursinus (478), Dickinson (460), and Susquehanna (387) rounded out the top-five in the team standings.

The Falcons will be back in action in the middle of January when they host Stevenson and Immaculata on Jan. 14 at 5:00 p.m.
 
Saturday Update
On Saturday, Messiah earned a pair of top-10 finishes with PJ Cronauer placing seventh in the 1650 Free with a time of 17:12.76 and Mike Shoul earning a ninth-place finish in the 200 Breast with a mark of 2:17.27
 
In individual events, Messiah also earned top-15 finishes from Brett Graff in the 400 IM (4:35.14), and Mason Kennedy in the 1650 Free, finishing 11th (18:05.14).
 
Three relays were contested on Saturday and Messiah's best finish in a relay event was in the 800 Free Relay. The team of Mason Kennedy, Brett Graff, Sage Sobek, and PJ Cronauer got to the wall in 7:37.82 to place 11th.
 
Friday Update
Messiah turned in a pair of top-15 finishes in the two relays contested with the team of Sage Sobek, Jacob Whipple, Mike Shoul, PJ Cronauer finishing 14th in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:31.66. At the end of the session, Jonathan Lacayo, Mike Shoul, Ben Clarke, PJ Cronauer took home 12th in the 400 Medley Relay for the men's best finishing of the evening. They got to the wall in 3:49.44.
 
Three individual events were contested on Friday with PJ Cronauer placing 15th in the 500 Free for the Falcons best individual finish of the night with a time of 4:58.61. Brett Graff led the way in the 200 IM with a mark of 2:10.74, good for 27th place while Sage Sobek was Messiah's top finisher in the 50 Free. Sobek took 24th in the event with a time of 23.25.
