GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah men's swim team bested visiting Albright College, 139-104, in Fredericksen Natatorium on Saturday afternoon. Four different Falcons registered first-place finishes, led by three winning times from sophomore
Isaac McCabe.
With the home victory, Messiah improved to 2-0 on the season.
The Falcons got off to a good start, winning the opening event of the meet, the 400 yard medley relay. A team of
Andrew Leeper, McCabe,
Andrew Roberti, and
Mark Lukens placed a top time of 3:44.61.
Individually, Messiah tallied multiple first place finishes. Leeper touched first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.40, as McCabe notched a first-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke. The sophomore turned in two more first-place times, topping all competition in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:16.28) and the 200 yard IM (2:06.28).
Other first-place finishes included Roberti in the 200 yard butterfly (2:13.67) and
Brennen Puckett in the 100 yard butterfly, touching first with a time of 55.02.
In addition to its first-place times, Messiah accumulated a considerable amount of points in second-place finishes.
Frankie Salvi placed second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:08.00.
Jacob Whipple touched second in the 200 yard freestyle (1:59.45), finishing just three seconds behind teammate Leeper. Freshman Jonathon Lacayo was two seconds away from a first-place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing in 58.98. Other notable second-place times included Mike Shoul in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:03.45) and 200 yard breaststroke (2:20.74), and
Brett Graff in the 200 yard IM (2:11.62).

Messiah (2-0) will be back in action on Friday, Apr. 16, when it competes in the Virtual MAC Championships in Frederciksen Natatorium, set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
