Four Falcons Claim Academic Accolades

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches announced its 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-America Teams as four Messiah men's soccer players received honors. Jake Lent-Koop, Luke Brautigam, Trevor Goodling, and Matt McDonald were the four players earning the academic accolades.
 
Both Lent-Koop and Brautigam received First Team nods, as Goodling earned a spot on the Second Team and McDonald on the Third Team.
 
Lent-Koop adds yet another accolade to his storied 2021 season. The senior defender was a recipient of an All-American honor, a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth bid, and a spot on the MAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Lent-Koop is studying biology and has a 3.78 GPA.
 
Brautigam, a senior defender from Doylestown, Pa., started all seven games for the Falcons and contributed seven goals and four assists. In addition to earning a spot on the Scholar All-America Second Team, Brautigam was honored with an All-American nod as well as a spot on the All-MAC Commonwealth First Team. An accounting major, Brautigam holds a 3.78 GPA as well.
 
Like Lent-Koop, Goodling was also honored as a United Soccer Coaches All-American. Goodling, who studies finance and has a 3.94 GPA, made considerable contributions to the Falcons this season, started in 22 games and scored eight goals.
 
McDonald, after scoring eight goals and dishing out four assists, was named to the All-MAC Commonwealth First Team. The junior forward is an accounting major and holds a 3.58 GPA.
