WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Messiah women's swimming team earned a pair of victories over the Wilkes Colonels and FDU-Florham Devils on Saturday afternoon in a double dual. The Falcons claimed seven victories in the 11 events contested on Saturday.
Marie Hagemaster and
Sophie Schulze helped lead the Falcons, each earning a victory and a second-place finish on the day.

As a team, Messiah earned 133 team points while the PDU-Florham Devils picked up 71 points and the Wilkes Colonels earned one point.

Hagemasater set a new personal best in the 500 Free with a time of 5:31.59, winning the event while also picking up a second-place finish in the 200 Free with a mark of 2:03.26. Schulze claimed her victory in the 1000 Free in a time of 11:26.47 while taking home second place in the 100 Free, getting to the wall in 56.76.

Messiah started their day with the team of
Grace Schad,
Evangeline Soerens,
Erin Goudie, and
Lainey Flanagan winning the 400 Medley Relay in a time of 4:14.70. The Falcons also turned in the second and third fastest times in the event.

In the 1000 Free, Messiah finished with the top three times in the event.
Sophie Schulze got to the wall first in 11:26.7 to lead a trio of Falcons in the event.
Lauren Mock was second in 11:42.29 while
Caitlin Ross took third in 11:49.62.

The Falcons were also stellar in the 100 Free with
Caitlin Ross winning the race in 56.72 and
Sophie Schulze finishing second with a mark of 56.76.

Grace Schad claimed the 100 Back with a mark of 1:01.90.

Messiah also earned all three spots on the podium in the 100 Breast with
Evangeline Soerens (1:10.96) taking first,
Abigail Soerens (1:11.59) finishing second, and
Lauren Cotton (1:12.54) finishing the race in third.

Messiah wrapped up the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 Free Relay with
Marie Hagemaster,
Abigail Soerens,
Caitlin Ross, and
Sophie Schulze combining for a time of 1:46.04, less than a second and a half behind the winning time of 1:44.69 from FDU-Florham.

Messiah improves to 3-0 on the young season and will back in action on Saturday when they head to Chester, Pa. for a quad meet with Widener University, Hood College, and King's College hosted by the Widener Pride.
