COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Messiah wrestling team earned a 10th-place finish at the Racich Rumble on the campus of Ursinus College on Saturday. Messiah earned four top-six finishes on the afternoon with
Noah Rice (149 lbs.) leading the way with a fourth-place finish.
Zach Needles earned a fifth-place finish at 165 lbs. while both
Ryder Slayton (184 lbs.) and
Joe Embleton (197 lbs.) took home sixth place on the day.

In the team standings, Alvernia won the competition with 123 points. SUNY Cortland (116.5 points), Delaware Valley (104), York (103.5), and New York University (102.5) all scored north of 100 points and rounded out the team standings.

For the second-straight week,
Noah Rice led Messiah with their top individual finish. Rice had to battle his way through the consolation bracket, winning five-straight matches to get into the third-place match. Since Rice had wrestled in six matches, the third-place match was a no contest. On the day, Rice went 5-1 with four decisions and a major to lead the day for the Falcons.

Zach Needles took home fifth-place for the Falcons with a 4-2 day. In all of his victories, Needles earned bonus points with Needles earned three pins on the day while also picking up a technical fall. In the fifth-place match, Needles pinned Alvernia's Gino Giacolona in just 16 seconds to cap off a strong day on the mats.

Like Rice, Ryer Slayton had to fight his way through the consolation bracket at 184 lbs. After picking up a first-period pin in his first match of the day, Slayton dropped to the consolation bracket, but won four-straight matches. He ended the day in the sixth-place match, but was unable to wrestle after a long day fighting through the consolation bracket.

Joe Embleton also picked up a sixth-place finish at 197 lbs. Embleton's day was highlighted with a pair of pins over SUNY Cortland's Chris Bold and WPI's Jonah Potter. On the afternoon, Embleton went 3-2 to take sixth.

Messiah will be back in action at the Waynesburg Duals next Saturday in Waynesburg, Pa. on Nov. 19.
