BOSTON, Mass. – Two Messiah women's track and field athletes,
Esther Seeland and
Kate Dickow, competed at the David Hemery Valentine Invite at Boston University on Friday afternoon. Seeland, who broke the NCAA Division III record in the 800m (2:05.90) last week, topped her personal best mark this afternoon, earning a time of 2:05.39. Dickow also recorded a new personal-best mark in her event, recording a time of 5:21 in the 1-Mile run. The junior bested her previous top mark of 5:24.22, winning her heat.
Seeland competed in a strong field of runners across all three NCAA divisions, finishing ninth out of a total 186 runners. In the four-lap race, Seeland recorded splits of 30.23s, 31.74s, 31.81s, and 31.63s. Within the field was Emily Richards, a former NCAA DIII record holder in the 800m, running unattached amongst the other collegiate runners. Roisin Willis, who also ran unattached, topped all the competition with a winning time of 2:00.06.
Dickow, who competed in a competitive heat of 14 runners that included NCAA Division I runners, topped all competition with her new personal-best time. With her time of 5:21, Dickow earns the eighth-best all-time 1-mile mark in Messiah women's indoor track and field program history.
