GRANTHAM, PA – The Messiah women's swimming team is getting ready for the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Swimming Conference Championships this weekend. In the Pre-championship Poll, the women were picked to finish in first place.
The four-day MAC Championships are scheduled to take place at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa. beginning on Thursday, Feb. 10 and concluding on Sunday, Feb. 13.
Last Season
The 2021 MAC Championships were contested virtually for the first time in Middle Atlantic Conference history. The Messiah women claimed their seventh Conference Championship in the last eight years, ranking them third all-time in conference history.
2022 Regular Season
The women come into the weekend with a strong 10-2 overall record and a 9-1 conference mark. They started off the year with five straight wins before falling to Gettysburg in mid-November. Messiah capped off the year with five addition wins as well as a loss to Division II opponent Millersville, to end their year with a 10-2 overall record.
What to Watch for
Messiah has had full team performances all year, relying on everyone in their ten wins this season.
Sophie Schulze has had a nice sophomore campaign, holding the fastest times for the 100-yard freestyle (55.47), 1000-yard freestyle (11:13.54), 50-yard backstroke (28.71), 100-yard backstroke (1:01.36) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.81). Look for Schulze to make a big impact this weekend.
Also look out for junior
Katelyn Boyce who leads the team in the 200-yard butterfly (2:17.21), 200-yard individual Medley (2:17.21) and the 400-yard individual Medley (4:46.85).
