SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Messiah women's track and field team competed in the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University on Saturday as the Falcons issued many notable performances, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 1500m from
Kate Dickow. Dickow topped all competition within a competitive field of 76 runners with a time of 4:54.21.
In addition to a strong performance at Susquehanna on Saturday,
Esther Seeland represented Messiah women's track and field at Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N. C. Seeland turned in a dominant performance, placing first overall in the 800m with a top time of 2:05.01. Seeland, competing amongst a field of NCAA DI and professional runners, bested the entire field of 123 runners.
Highlights from Jim Taylor Invitational:
100m Hurdles
Two Falcons,
Claire Miller and
Maria Sudlow, performed well in the 100m hurdles. Miller placed 10th overall with a time of 16.83s as Sudlow earned a 30th-place finish, recording a time of 19.76s. York's Julia Pena topped all competition in the preliminaries with a time of 15.13s
400m
Ellie Longshaw and
Emma Graybill each turned in notable performances for the Falcons in the 400m event. Longshaw placed 10th overall out of a strong field of 48 runners with a time of 1:02.80 as Graybill notched a top-20 finish, placing 16th, crossing the line in 1:04.02.
1,500m
Dickow secured a first-place finish in the 1,500m, topping all competition with a time of 4:54.21. Other notable finishes for the Falcons included

10,000m
Elise Davenport was the lone Falcon competing in the 10,000m, crossing the line in 45:22.11. Davenport ran in a field of 11 runners as Elizabethtown's Bridget Kennedy topped all competition with a time of 39:36.33.
4x100m Relay
The Falcons earned a fourth-overall finish in the 4x100m relay event. A team of
Claire Miller,
Emma Graybill,
Halle Jennett, and
Ellie Longshaw recorded a time of 51.35s. The relay team competed in the second heat of the event, topping all competition.
Pole Vault
Cadee Wood competed in the pole vault for the Falcons, registering a tie for fifteenth overall with a top mark of 2.75m. Wood, competing in a field of vaulters, performed well.
Long Jump
Elena Vargas represented Messiah in the long jump event. Vargas issued a 13th-place finish, leaping to a top mark of 4.75m
Triple Jump
Vargas also competed in the triple jump, earning an impressive top-ten finish. Vargas, jumpong to a top distance of 10.50m, placed ninth overall out of a competitive field of 30 jumpers.
