Women's Track & Field Wrap Up Messiah Multi

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Messiah women's track and field team competed in Day Two of the Messiah Multi at Starry Track on Friday afternoon. The Falcons turned in impressive performances throughout the afternoon, highlighted by a first-place finish in the javelin throw from Ruby Ramsey. Natalie Hamlen and Maria Sudlow joined Ramsey in competing in the heptathlon as the Falcons gear up for the Messiah Invitational, scheduled to take place at Starry Track tomorrow.
 
Heptathlon (Day Two)
Natalie Hamlen, Ruby Ramsey, and Maria Sudlow completed the closing events of the heptathlon on Friday afternoon. At the end of Day One, Hamlen stands in 13th-place (1596), Ramsey stands in 15th-place (1408), and Sudlow stands in 19th-place (1265).
 
The three concluding events of the heptathlon were the long jump, javelin throw, and 800m run. Ramsey highlighted the efforts of the afternoon, placing first overall in the javelin throw with a top mark of 31.57m. Hamlen also recorded a strong finish in the 800m, registering a second-place finish, crossing the line in 2:34.29.

Overall, the three Falcons competed well throughout the two-day heptathlon. Hamlen recorded an 11th-place finish with a total score of 2893, Ramsey a 15th-place finish with a score of 2635, and Sudlow an 18th-place finish, accumulating 2169 points. Carnegie Mellon's Elizabeth Barre topped all competition, registering a winning score of 4319.
 
10,000m
Kirsten Howland represented the Falcons in the 10,000m run. Howland recorded a time of 44:44.06, competing in a strong field of nine runners. York's Jordan Haberstroh topped all competition, issuing a winning time of 39:12.58.
 
Discus Throw
Four Falcons competed in the discus throw event. Leah Ferster earned a team-best finish, placing 11th overall in a field of 29 throwers with a mark of 27.98m. Amanda Brown (26.39m), Macey Wolfe (23.30m), and Carolina Hatch (20.80m) all registered impressive marks as well.

The Falcons compete in the Messiah Invitational tomorrow at Starry Track, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
