CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Messiah women's track and field team competed in Day Two at the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at DeSales University on Friday. Messiah competed well, earning plenty of qualifying times for tomorrow's track events finals. Through two days of competition, Messiah sits in fourth-place with 18 team points as Misericordia University leads all teams with 63 team points.

3000m Steeplechase
Both
Leanne Weaver and
Ali Schutte recorded top-ten finishes in the 3000m steeplechase event. Weaver, crossing the line in 12:05.59, placed fifth overall as Schutte placed sixth overall with a time of 12:09.30.
Katelyn Prothero (12:45.07),
Hannah Steckbeck (13:25.70)
Sarah Bath (13:29.27), and
Jillian Brotherton (13:45.89) all registered quality performances as well.
200m
Longshaw represented the Falcons well in the prelims of the 200m event, placing second overall out of 26 runners. Longshaw's time of 26.29s qualifies her for tomorrow's 200m finals.
400m
Messiah was dominant in the 400m preliminaries, led by Seeland. Seeland earned a first-place finish with a time of 59.59s. In addition,
Elena Vargas (1:00.89) and
Emma Graybill (1:01.75) each qualified for tomorrow's finals.
400m Hurdles
Two Falcons qualified for tomorrow's 400m hurdles finals.
Brieanna Hess turned in a quality fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 1:09.65.
Leanne Weaver also qualified for the finals after recording an impressive time of 1:11.04.
800m
Seeland, who owns the conference-best 800m time, qualified for tomorrow's finals with a time of 2:20.62.
4x100m Relay
The Falcons issued a strong performance in the prelims, recording a time of 50.04s to place third out of 12 teams. A relay team of
Claire Miller,
Emma Graybill,
Halle Jennett, and
Ellie Longshaw represented Messiah in the relay event.
100m Hurdles
Miller competed in the 100m hurdles prelims, recording a strong finish to punch a ticket to tomorrow's finals. Miller turned in a time of 16.45s, placing fifth out of 18 total sprinters across three heats.
High Jump
Emily Gourley and
Olivia Call each competed in the high jump event for the Falcons. Gourley issued an impressive performance, turning in a mark of 1.41m, placing eighth overall out of 15 jumpers. Call was impressive as well, earning a mark of 1.36m.
Heptathlon
Natalie Hamlen and
Ruby Ramsey concluded competition in the heptathlon on Friday. Hamlen finished with 2577 points as Ramsey finished right behind her teammate in the standings with 2539 points. Alvernia's Susanna Pirollo topped all competition with 4229 points.
Hamlen turned in a strong performance in the 800m, placing fifth overall with a time of 2:35.84. Ramsey competed well in the javelin throw, impressively placing third overall with a mark of 26.10m.
