Grantham, Pa. – The Messiah University men's swimming team opened the 2023-24 season with a split against Wilkes University and Mount St. Mary's (Md.). The Falcons dominated the Colonels 168-49, but the Falcons fell to the The Mount, 208-49.
Up next, the Falcons head to Hood College for a triple-dual meet against MAC rivals, Widener University, Hood College, and King's College (Pa.).
The Falcons opened the meet with a third place in the 200-medley relay. The team of
Avery Barley,
Nathan Book,
Aedan Wilkinson, and
Sage Sobek finished less than a second behind the second-place team from Mount St. Mary's with a time of 1:55.61.
PJ Cronauer was one of the top swimmers on the day for the Falcons in the distance races. Cronauer finished second in the 1650-free (17:54.39) and the 500-free (5:03.69).
Aedan Wilkinson also collected two silver medals in the 50-free (22.23) and the 100-fly (55.89).
Sage Sobek finished strong in the 200-free to place third with a time of 1:52.12. Sobek just missed out on a third-place finish in the 100-free with a time of 51.31.
Avery Barley added a third-place finish in the 100-yard back with a time of 56.12. Barley also finished fifth in the 200-back with a time of 2:07.97.
Nathan Book totaled fourth-place finish in the 100-breast (1:05.43) and a fifth-place finish in the 200-breast (2:29.10).
Dylan Yellets added a fifth-place finish in the 100-fly with a time of 58.77.
The Falcons finished the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-free relay. The team of

Sage Sobek finished with a time of 1:30.76 in a tightly contested final race.
