GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Messiah University women's swim team defeated the Knights of Arcadia University in a dual-meet on Friday evening. The Falcons won 146-116 to improve to 4-1 on the season so far. The Falcons had a great evening with 18 top-three finishes in the meet, with seven first place finishes.
Grace Schad,
Erin Goudie, and
Samantha Pennell each finished with two first-place finishes to lead the Falcons.
Up next, the Falcons travel to Dallas, Pa for the Cougar Splash Invitational hosted by Misericordia University. The first day of the meet is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 17 at 6:00 p.m., with day two beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18.
How It Happened
The Falcons opened the meet strong with a first and third-place finish in the 200-medley relay. The team of
Grace Schad,
Evangeline Soerens,
Erin Goudie, and
Sophie Schulze touched the wall first with a time of 1:52.47. The team of
Maddy Price,
Lauren Cotton,
Caitlin Ross, and
Kendal Wilson finished in third with a time of 1:59.45.
The individual races started well for the Falcons with
Samantha Pennell earning a first-place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 11:29.37. Pennell also added a first-place finish in the 500 free with a time 5:35.36.
The next race that the Falcons finished strong in was the 100 back.
Grace Schad finished first with a time of 1:00.27 and
Maddy Price finished third with a time of 1:04.71. Schad also finished first in the 200 back with a time of 2:13.98 and Price finished third in the 100 back with a time of 2:18.88.
The Falcons continued to finish in the top-three in the 100 breast.
Abigail Soerens finished second with a time of 1:10.97 and
Lauren Cotton added a third-place finish with a time of 1:12.80. Soerens added a third-place finish in the 50 free with a time 26.72.
Messiah continued to rack up top-three finishes with a strong 200 fly race.
Erin Goudie finished first with a time of 2:17.50 and
Lexi Lovern finished second with a time of 2:27.96. Goudie added a first-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 1:01.44. Lovern added another second-place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:33.51.
Evangeline Soerens added a first-place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:30.88. Soerens also finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:27.46.
Sophie Schulze added a second-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.02.
Kylie Wilkinson and
Kendal Wilson each finished with a third-place finish. Wilkinson finished third in the 100 free with a time of 57.39. Wilson finished third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:27.52.
The Falcons finished the meet strong in the 400 free relay with a first and second-place finish. The team of

Caitlin Ross,
Kendal Wilson, and
Sophie Schulze touched the wall first with a time 3:53.03. The team of
Evangeline Soerens,
Grace Schad,
Maddy Price, and
Erin Goudie finished second with a time 3:53.92.
