Solid Friday Night for Men's Track and Field at F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Messiah men's track and field team was in action on Friday night, turning in a number of strong finishes at the Blue & White Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall College. Messiah's beset finish came in the Pole Vault with Josiah Sehr clearing 4.16 meters to lead three top-10 finishers for the Falcons in the event. In total, the Falcons earned 17 top-10 finishes on the evening including five top-five finishes.
 
Messiah will have a small handful of runners competing in distance events at Boston University on Saturday with the rest of the team back in action on Feb. 18 at Susquehanna University.
 
On the Track
In the track events, Messiah earned 10 top-10 finishes, spread throughout seven different events. The Falcons doubled up with two strong marks in a trio of events including the 5000 Meter, 800 Meter, and 3000 Meter.
 
In the 5000 Meter, a pair of Falcons finished back-to-back with Zeke Colyer (16:24.02) crossing in sixth and Jonathan Wyrick (16:37.53) taking seventh. The Falcons also doubled up in the 3000 Meter with Josh Bauman earning a fourth-place finish in a time of 9:03.97 while Kyle Costello took eighth in 9:15.74.
 
Josh Bauman also competed in the 800 Meter, earning a seventh-place finish in 2:02.02. Nathan Kimmel was close behind Bauman earning ninth in 2:03.03. Kimmel also took home ninth place in the Mile with a time of 4:38.96.
 
John Condon took fourth place in the 400 Meter with a time of 53.07.
 
John Steele completed the 50 Meter Hurdles in a time of 8.95 to earn fifth on the evening.
 
The Falcons also earned a 10th-place finish in the 4x400 Meter Relay, with the team of Adam Hostetler, Nathan Kopp, Jack Daudt, and Sean Baxter finishing in 3:48.09.
 
In the Field
The Falcons had strong showings in a number of field events. Their best event of the day, may have been the Pole Vault, where Messiah earned three top-10 finishes. Josiah Zehr took second with a mark of 4.16 meters with John Condon (eighth, 3.55 meters) and Gavin Dunkerton (t-ninth, 3.55 meters) also earning strong marks.
 
Landon Kerr earned a pair of top-10 marks with eighth-place finishes in both the High Jump (1.70 meters) and Long Jump (6.07 meters). Zach French also competed well in the Long Jump finishing in fourth place with a distance of 6.43 meters.
 
John Steele took sixth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 12.63 meters.

As mentioned, the Falcons will have a handful of athletes competing in distance events at Boston University on Saturday with the rest of the team back in action next Saturday, Feb. 18 at Susquehanna University.
