GRANTHAM, PA - Despite wins from
Ryder Slayton,
Hayden Benner,
Clay Gainer,
Noah Rice and a pin from
Garret Cornell, the Falcons fell short against the York College Spartans 19-26.
The loss takes the Falcons to 9-11 on the year but have a quick turnaround for their next action. The Falcons will be back on the mats on Saturday, February 4 at 10:00 AM for the Messiah Open.
On the Mats
John Sumner started out the evening for Messiah, but it was
Ryder Slayton who earned the first points for the Falcons. Slayton earned a 10-7 decision to kick off the scoring for Messiah. After a pin from York,
Hayden Benner picked up another decision for the Falcons, via 6-1.
After two technical falls as well as a forfeit, the Falcons picked up the final three wins on the night.
Clay Gainer picked up a 2-1 win in a close battle while
Noah Rice earned a major decision by way of 11-3. The night was capped off with chants of "money, money, money" as
Garret Cornell pinned Allen DeVries at the 1:50 mark, making quick work of the Spartan.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Falcons fell to the Spartans 26-19.
The Falcons are back in action on Saturday, February 4 for the Messiah Open starting at 10:00 AM in Hitchcock Arena.
