SUNDAY, FEB. 12
YORK, PA. - The Messiah women's swim team claimed their ninth MAC Championship in the last ten seasons, putting on a clinic over the four days of the Championships. The Falcons filled the All-MAC Honorees with numerous First, Second, and Third Team Honors for their efforts. The Falcons dominated over the weekend, accumulating over 1400 points.
The Final Day of Action
Marie Hagemaster kicked off the day with a third place finish in the 1650 Freestyle, timing in at 18:23.63.
Caitlin Ross picked up an eighth place in the same event as well.
In the 29th Event of the Weekend,
Lainey Flanagan tied for fifth place while
Sophie Schulze picked up a seventh place in the 100 Freestyle. Later on,
Grace Schad finished fifth in the 200 Backstroke, timing in at 2:10.97.
The Soerens sisters struck again, this time in the 200 Breaststroke. Evangeline claimed a gold with a time of 2:22.42, edging out Abigail who clocked in at 2:22.75. Messiah wasn't done, because they swept the podium in the event, with
Lexi Lovern placing third timing in at 2:25.67.
In the final event of the Championships, the Falcons picked up yet another win, this time in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The team of
Sophie Schulze,
Lauren Mock,
Marie Hagemaster and
Lainey Flanagan timed in at 3:36.50 capping off the weekend for the Falcons.
Messiah finished the championships in first place with 1400.5 points. The next closest team had 1110 points, which was Stevens. The win is the Falcons ninth MAC Championship in the last ten seasons.

SATURDAY, FEB. 11
YORK, PA. - Messiah women's swimming has generated a convincing lead after three days of the MAC Championships as they hold a 184-point lead over Stevens. The Falcons will look to maintain that lead into the final day of the championships on Sunday, Feb. 12.
Back in the Pool
Erin Goudie picked up a second place in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:10.57.
Katelyn Boyce finished eighth in the same event at 2:17.44. Then it was
Grace Schad winning the 100 Backstroke with a time of 59.24 claiming the gold in the event.
The Soerens sisters came in second and third in the 100 Breaststroke with Abigail (105:.57) edging out Evangeline (106:.13).
Lauren Cotton (1:08.07) and
Lexi Lovern (1:08.86) also picked up sixth and eighth in the event.
Finally, the team of
Lauren Mock,
Sophie Schulze,
Lainey Flanagan and
Marie Hagemaster won the 800 Freestyle Relay with a time of 7:52.43, claiming a gold.
The Falcons have accumulated 1025 points and are in first place. Stevens is in second place with 841 points.
The Falcons will be back in the pool for the final day of the Championships tomorrow on Feb. 12.
FRIDAY, FEB. 10
YORK, PA. - The Messiah women's swim team still holds a commanding lead at the MAC Championships as they prepare for day three on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Falcons had numerous strong efforts again today to keep them in first place.
In the Pool
The day started out with a 200 Freestyle Relay win for the team of
Sophie Schulze,
Caitlin Ross,
Abigail Soerens and
Lainey Flanagan. They clocked in at 1:38.12.
Lexi Lovern picked up a fourth place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:46.59, while
Katelyn Boyce (4:48.03) and
Evangeline Soerens (4:54.53) added a sixth and eighth place respectively.
Then it was
Erin Goudie earning a silver in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 58.78. The Falcons had an extremely strong showing in the 200 Freestyle, with finishes in second through fifth place.
Marie Hagemaster got second at 1:55.94,
Sophie Schulze got third at 1:57.11,
Lauren Mock picked up fourth with a time of 1:57.96 and
Lainey Flanagan got fifth with a time of 1:59.93.
In the final event of the day, The 400 Medley Relay team of
Grace Schad,
Abigail Soerens,
Erin Goudie and
Marie Hagemaster won with a time of 3:54.93 giving the Falcons a commanding lead heading into day three of the Championships.
The Falcons are in first with 728 points and the next closest team is Stevens with 585.
THURSDAY, FEB. 9
YORK, PA. – The Graham Aquatics Center was busy hosting day one of the MAC Swimming Championships on Thursday, where multiple Falcons made an impact with some podium finishes for the women's swim team.
Marie Hagemaster and
Caitlin Ross as well as the 200 Medley team of
Grace Schad,
Evangeline Soerens,
Erin Goudie, and
Sophie Schulze earned All-MAC honors for their efforts on Thursday.
The Falcons will be back in the pool tomorrow for round two of the MAC Championships in the Graham Aquatics Center in York, Pa.
In the Graham Aquatics Center
Marie Hagemaster and
Caitlin Ross kicked off the finals with a second and third place finish in the 500 Freestyle. Hagemaster timed in at 5:12.54 while Ross clocked in at 5:21.09 for a third place finish. Both those finishes put them in the All-MAC recognition category.
Lauren Mock earned a sixth-place finish with a time of 5:21.74.
In the 200 IM,
Lauren Cotton and
Grace Schad finished fourth and sixth place with times of 2:12.80 and 2:13.58. Later, in the 50 Freestyle,
Sophie Schulze placed fourth with a time of 24.69.
Abigail Soerens got eighth with a time of 25.23.
In the final event of the evening, the 200 Medley Relay team of
Grace Schad,
Evangeline Soerens,
Erin Goudie, and
Sophie Schulze placed second with a time of 1:48.39, earning them a Second Team nod.
The Falcons currently sit in first after day one of the MAC Championships.
