GRANTHAM, Pa. - On Monday, August 7th, AROMA Sports Ministry will send a team of Messiah student athletes, coaches, and alumni to serve in Zambia. After months of preparation and training, AROMA is excited to launch this team to encourage the global Church and advance God's Kingdom through sports.

AROMA has been working with Project 1151 and the Macha Sport and Learning Program for almost a decade and this will be AROMA's sixth trip to Zambia. MSLP was started by Messiah alum, Eric Thuma ('00). His family has hosted the team and been intimately involved alongside their Zambian staff in years past. Their family has returned to the US and turned the ministry over completely to the Zambian staff. We hope to bring our team back alongside them to encourage and support the ongoing ministry in Macha.

While in Zambia, the AROMA team will work alongside the MSLP staff to both assist with their regular weekly programming as well as provide some specific help and encouragement in areas where we bring specific needed expertise. This would include, but not be limited to assisting with their after-school program, doing sports clinics and giving water filter demonstrations. MSLP runs a community center where our teams invest a lot of time loving and playing with the kids that are regularly there. The Zambians are open to learning lots of new sports so we often get a chance to introduce sports that are less common there.
