GRANTHAM, Pa. - AROMA Sports Ministry sent out a mixed trip to Zambia from August 7-19.
See below for some testimonials from the trip...
"The AROMA Zambia team recently returned from a 12-day trip with long-term partner, Project 1151 and the Macha Sport + Learning Project (MSLP). This was AROMA's first trip to Zambia since 2019. It was a huge blessing for both our team, and the MSLP staff to reconnect and continue serving together. MSLP is a community and recreation center in Macha, Zambia that offers numerous relational and discipleship opportunities for youth and adults within the surrounding communities through the avenues of sports and learning. The AROMA team came alongside MSLP staff to host morning sport clinics in the community. During this time, we were able to teach many new sports including field hockey, baseball, and track & field. We also took part in organizing and running practices for the current sports the Zambians play such as basketball, soccer, and disc golf (the Zambians are AMAZING disc golf players.) For many student-athletes on the AROMA team, this was their first cross cultural experience using sport to build relationships and share their faith with others. In addition, the team was able to distribute over 100 Sawyer water filters into a community in desperate need of clean water. We were so blessed by the humility, genuineness, joy, and Christlikeness of the Zambian people. The Lord brought forth encouragement between brothers and sisters in Christ from the other sides of the world. All praise and glory to Him!" -

"One profound way I saw God at work on our trip to Zambia was through the work and heart of the Macha Sport and Learning Project's director, Gerald Mwanamoya. From taking the most uncomfortable seat on the bus, to organizing details for our water filtration demonstration, to pursuing individual conversations with us, Gerald radiated intentionality and servant leadership. Gerald shared his testimony with our team on our last night in Macha. We sat around a campfire and had the privilege to hear how God worked in his life. We heard countless stories of how the Lord provided for and protected Gerald through hardships, ultimately working to bring Gerald into a life of faithful service to God! Hearing his story made me think of Romans 8:28, that " in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Getting to know Gerald and see his passion for the Lord is just one example of how our team was encouraged by our Zambian brothers and sisters in Christ at the Macha Sport and Learning Center."

"Our trip to Zambia taught me a lot. I grew up overseas, and yet, I was still amazed to see first-hand how the Lord works through one global church. Coming into the trip I think we all had goals to be a great influence for the people there. However, looking back, I think we can all say they had an equal impact on our life, if not more. Their warm hearts and joy for Christ will be something I will never forget."
