YORK, Pa. – The Messiah University women's swim team dominated in the sweeps over York and Stevenson on Saturday. The Falcons defeated York 141-63 and Stevenson 161-43. The Falcons cruised in both relays taking first and second in both of the races. Messiah earned 17 top-three finishes with six gold medals.
Grace Schad and
Marie Hagemaster each led the Falcons with two first-place finishes each.
Up next, the Falcons host a double-dual against conference rivals Albright College and Misericordia University on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1:00 p.m.
How It Happened
The Falcons started the meet strong with a first and second place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of
Grace Schad,
Abigail Soerens,
Erin Goudie, and
Marie Hagemaster finished first with a time of 4:06.95. The team of
Maddy Price,
Lauren Cotton,
Caitlin Ross, and
Lauren Mock finished second with a time of 4:24.81.
The Falcons started the individual races with a first-place finish from
Kylie Wilkinson in the 1000 free with a time of 11:36.74.
The Falcons continued to race well with a second and third-place finish in the 200 free.
Abigail Soerens finished second with a time of 2:08.33 and
Caitlin Ross finished in third with a time of 2:09.04.
The Falcons continued to have strong races with a first and second-place finish in the 50 free.
Grace Schad finished in first with a time of 25.47 and
Kendal Wilson finished in second with a time of 25.73. Schad also finished in first in the 200 back with a time of 2:12.24.
In the next event the Falcons finished in second and third in the 200 IM.
Sophie Schulze finished in second with a time of 2:23.72 and
Maddy Price finished in third with a time of 2:24.34. Price also added a silver medal in the 200 back with a time of 2:19.86.
The Falcons had an impressive 200 fly race with a first and second place finish.
Erin Goudie earned the gold medal with a time of 2:20.90 and
Lexi Lovern finished in second with a time of 2:23.29. Lovern also finished in third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:34.73.
Messiah continued to dominate with a first and third-place finish in the 100 free.
Marie Hagemaster finished in first with a time of 55.64 and
Samantha Pennell earned the bronze with a time of 59.09. Hagemaster wasted no time earning another gold medal in the 500 free with a time of 5:33.28.
Lauren Mock and
Evangeline Soerens each added second-place finishes for the Falcons. Mock finished in second in the 500 free with a time of 5:39.37. Soerens finished in second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:28.99.
The Falcons ended the double-dual on a string note with a first and second place finish in the 400 free relay. The team of

Erin Goudie touched the wall in first with a time of 3:51.54. The team of
Kylie Wilkinson,
Mattie Brummer,
Caitlin Ross, and
