Lee’s Two Goals Leads Men’s Soccer Past Chargers

LANCASTER, Pa. – On Thursday evening, the Messiah University men's soccer team defeated the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College, 3-0. The Falcons got on the board early with a Patrick Lee goal off a corner kick from Harrison Keator. The Falcons added to their lead in the 23rd minute after Lee found the back of the goal for the second time in the first half. Just 10 minutes into the second half, Josh Bratager scored, off a rebound from a Grant Shreiner shot, to push the Falcons lead to 3-0. The Falcons added five more shots on goal, but could not find the back of the goal and the remained 3-0 until the final whistle.
 
Up next, the Falcons travel to Frederick, Md. to take on the Blazers of Hood College on Saturday Oct. 12 at 7:00 p.m.
 
First Half
The Falcons offense looked to take an early lead with a corner kick in the eighth minute. Harrison Keator sent the cross from the near corner right into the back post where Patrick Lee was waiting. Lee sent a volley into the back of the goal to give the Falcons an early 1-0 lead. The Falcons looked to add to their lead in the 23rd minute. After forcing a turnover just outside of the box, Patrick Lee gathered the ball, made a move to get some space from a Charger defender, and ripped a shot into the top-right corner to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
 
Second Half
After 10 minutes of back-and-forth play, the Falcons looked to extend their lead in the 56th minute. After a turnover on the Chargers side of the field, Grant Shreiner got the ball in the box and sent a shot towards the goal. The Chargers' goalkeeper made a save, but Josh Bratager sent the rebound into the top-center of the goal to give the Falcons a 3-0 lead. The Falcons added shots on goal from Patrick Lee, Josh Bratager, Luke Foster, Matt Griffin, and Ekow Yankah, but each shot was saved by the Chargers goalkeeper. The Falcons defense locked down the Chargers attack for the rest of the game to keep the score at 3-0.
 
Stats
Patrick Lee totaled two goals to lead the Falcons offense. Josh Bratager also added a goal. Grant Shreiner and Harrison Keator each tallied an assist. The Falcons tallied 14 shots with nine shots on goal. The Chargers tallied three shots, and the Falcons defense prevented any shots on goal. Adam Carter earned the win in goal for the Falcons Killian O'Reilly also earned time in goal for the Falcons.
